It is Friday

This is Steve Andrews fronting the Peter Major Quartet at Burgundy's last night. He is an incredible sax player - a no music improvising man. Originally from Sunderland he now lives on the Lake District Fells not far from Shap. He even dedicated one of the numbers to Cumbria's upland sheep farmers - it had "you" in the title!!

He did have some trouble with his clarinet and recollected that he had bought it from Dave Saville for £20 - what did he expect especially as Dave is no longer with us - that was his tribute gig in Ulverston. Of course they all rallied round to say that Dave was the best cornet player ever!

With him were laid back Laurence Canty on bass guitar and happy drummer Peter Boocock - formidable guys and the extremely versatile Peter Major on key boards and vocals

Tensions were raised in the raffle last night as the last prize was not taken up. It was a vinyl featuring the "Andrews Sisters" and everytime Ted called out a number nobody would own up to having it! It must be a candidate for "Room 101" . Will it reappear in next week's raffle?
