A wet walk on Wednesday
We've had rain.. more a steady drizzle but it should help . The grass needs it .
We had our 6 months dental checkup today in Ulverston. A bit of a trek but he's the best dentist weve come across and when he moved we couldnt bear the thought of going to anyone else. As someone who used to hate going to the dentist it was quite wonderful to find someone so kind and caring and just a really nice person.
Because of Covid restrictions we couldnt wait inside the surgery so M went in first and I had a wander round the town on the lookout for a photo opportunity. Our photo prompt this week is Urban: street. Not many people around but a chance to take a photo as surreptitiously as possible. Cue... the camera phone held at waist height.
Back to the dentist and a rather boring wait at the foot of the stairs for 10 minutes. As usual Ms appointment is running late . He and the dentist are both very chatty.
My teeth are ok but M had an xray and got a bit of a shock as there is some sign of decay and he may well have to have a root canal filling if not an extraction. Hes not in pain which is just as well as the appointment wont be till August! Another side effect of Covid restrictions is they have to have fewer patients each day and his treatment will take about 75 minutes.
After a discussion about ' hidden sugars' we went home to read labels on our food packaging and it is really quite shocking just how much sugar there is in so many foods.
Apart from the obvious sugar in his espresso, M's discovered that honey on his cereal isnt good, or marmalade on his toast or the fruit juice he loves to drink and the sweet potato chips have 13 grams of sugar per 100g which we'd thought were healthier than the Gourmet oven chips but they only have 1.5 grams. The list goes on...
Probably the biggest shock will be the dental bill!
Blip is of the 'busiest' part of town
