Back In The High Life

Are you familiar with Steve Winwood’s 1986 song? It used to be our warm-up song before a softball game. MrsP and I would sit in the car, windows up, cassette loaded, and blast this song. We believed it brought us luck, we believed we would win, we were believers in the magical power of this song! It happened to play today on our way home from Freeport, Maine, and matched perfectly with the way I was feeling and what I was thinking. Post-vaccination, taking a short road trip, walking among multiple people inside (most unmasked but not us), using a public bathroom, it almost felt normal. We really are back on top, back in the high life again! • The high life also includes rain because a slow steady rain fell for most of the night. This morning the yard was hopping with starlings and robins in search of food. The mulch was dark again, the plants perky and happy, and the weeds had doubled in size. Thank you, Mother Nature! • As for our softball record, I remember losing more games than we won, lol :)
