Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

By Carol

2021 Sunday — Road Trip North

We drove away from our Southern California neighborhood at approximately 7:50 this morning. Cayucos was our destination. The highways were void of heavy grid-lock traffic. After about 3 hours and 50 minutes of driving time (that does not count the couple of stops we made to stretch our legs and make sure our plumbing was working), we arrived at a very overcast and cool Central Coast.

We have not only changed locations, but we have very much changed climate zones. California’s Central Coast is one of five Mediterranean climates in the world.

Wikipedia explains that “Mediterranean climate zones are typically located along the western sides of continents, between roughly 30 and 45 degrees north and south of the equator. The main cause of Mediterranean, or dry summer climate, is the subtropical ridge which extends northwards during the summer and migrates south during the winter due to increasing north–south temperature differences.... Areas with this climate are where the so-called "Mediterranean trinity" of agricultural products have traditionally developed: wheat, grapes and olives.”

By 12:30 we had reached our destination, the little lavender house, and were up the stairs and opening windows and then I did most of the schlepping of our bags up the stairs from the car because Mr. Fun’s knee is recovering from being quite painful and having a cortisone injection to help with that.

It is good, it is VERY GOOD, to be back home in Cayucos.

Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
and Chloe & Mitzi too!
