As a distraction from builders and packing, I have spent the past week building a new website for the dog rescue charity of which I am secretary.

This has been long overdue and has provided me with some intellectual stimulus and satisfaction during what has been, to say the least, a frustrating time.

But the end must be in sight. The removal men arrive on Thursday and in I go, ready or not.

The painter/floor polisher showed up at 6 this evening - for the first time this week. Heaven knows how much he achieved in a short evening, but he is way behind his schedule.

At least he has made a good job of the marble floors.

The walls I can always paint myself.
