Buzz Off!!

I've read that when people see a bee waving one of its legs they think it is a greeting. Far from it. The bee is indicating that one is getting too close. I got my shot and made a hasty retreat. Not quite sure what the flower is as I didn't capture the leaves. As for the bee itself I'm not as interested in bees as I am in other insects. It might be a buff-tailed bumble bee.

A real washout for the longest day. Bees were the only insects I saw and most of them were using umbellifers as umbrellas, hanging there with the rain dripping off them. We haven't seen the sun at all. :(
