God's Own Country
Attending the premiere of "God's Own Country" presented by The Edinburgh International Film Festival as the Opening Gala at the Festival Theatre, Edinburgh. On stage is the Film's Director, Francis Lee with actors Alec Secareanu & Josh O'Connor.
The IMDB.com plot precis states " Spring. Yorkshire. Young farmer Johnny Saxby numbs his daily frustrations with binge drinking and casual sex, until the arrival of a Romanian migrant worker for lambing season ignites an intense relationship that sets Johnny on a new path."
Reviews:
" There's no question that Lee is a bold new voice in British cinema."
"Earnest, honest, accurate, and unrelenting, this is the true romance of the countryside, dung-splattered boots and all."
"This is not a movie about coming out and the collateral damage that ensues. It's a universal tale about giving yourself over to love, even when you seem hopelessly broken."
"Combining gritty realism with poignancy, the result is a film that is exceptionally moving."
