Auction

Attended an art auction today. There was some spirited bidding and huge interest in many of the paintings. I was only watching and learning, keeping my hands firmly in my pocket.

The highest prices were for famous South Australian artist Sir Hans Heysen, who lived half a mile from where my dad grew up. In 1918 on his walk to school, dad saw Heysen painting a gum tree on the side of the road next to his property. The property and Heysen's studio is now part of The Cedars Museum.
