Day One in Fiordland

This morning we helicoptered into Dusky Sound and landed on the beach at Supper Cove.  Next was a short ride in the rubber ducky to the Flightless my floating home for the next three nights.  The helicopter trip was the best I have had.  The visiblity was clear and there was no turbulance.  1st extra is a view out the window of the rugged country we crossed before dropping down to sea level.  
The leader of the photography course was William Pantino who is an Australian who with his young family has relocated to Te Anau.  His brief for us was very simple: ISO 200, f 8-11, 1/250, watch the histogram, choose a subject , use other elements in the scene to support the subject, find a leading line to lead the eye to the subject.  These should help  to create depth in an image that is sharp front to back.
There were two couples who knew each other and the husbands had cameras but I was delighted by the wives who imediately after Will's talk stood beside their husbands and watched and checked and then ask to use the cameras.  2nd extra is Andrea taking a shot, Tony looking on and Dave is also there.  My main blip is the view they were seeing.  Me being me I wasn't actually following  what Will said and had got side tracked doing my own thing.  
A confession now.  I thought I had two charged batteries but no I hadn't charged my spare one so when a pod of dolphins came to play next to the boat I couldn't capture it.  I didn't think to get my phone.  I did get to fully experience them and at one point when the humans stopped talking all that was heard was the dolphins exhailing and the slapping of their tails.  Magic.
