Old Habits Die Hard

A dull and rainy day today with a temperature of only 12C, a bit different from 28C on Wed and I even had to put the heating on for an hour. I needed a blip and I could hear the fledglings outside, so I sat in a garden chair and photographed them for 15 mins - so cute! This fledgling made me laugh as it was right next to the fatballs inside the feeder, but was still calling for the parent to feed it - its sibling looked most unimpressed! I've added more photos in Extras. Great to see Cam Norrie play so well at Queens and take the final into a third set.

As if the pandemic wasn't enough, a member of SAGE has said that children and the elderly will be vulnerable to endemic viruses at the end of the year as social distancing has reduced their exposure to viruses such as pneumonia and bronchitis. There is speculation that we could actually open up before 19th July as more time has shown new cases are rising less fast and there is not a significant increase in hospitalisations. In contrast, Dr Susan Hopkins chief of PHE says restrictions are more likely to end if 70% of adults are fully vaccinated by 19th July, plus she would like to see all adults over 30 double vaccinated. The number of COVID deaths in Brazil passes 500,000, with experts fearing 800,000 could die as only 11% are fully vaccinated and 29% have had one dose, but the country is going into Winter - protesters are still calling for the resignation of the President.
