Make Every Day Memorable

Glen Etive - up and down

A 4am wake up call from Jorgie who desperately needed to go out. I took her for a stroll along the lochside. The early morning light on the water looked beautiful but I wasn’t hanging around to take photos.
We all managed another couple of hours sleep before a leisurely breakfast in the van.
Unfortunately the lochside pitch was only available for 1 night so we had to walk around to find another vacant spot. It didn’t take long (apparently 2 bookings didn’t bother to turn upyesterday :-/) or to sort out the paperwork with the reception.

We then drove back up Glen Coe, today looking very different under grey clouds.
Stopping at The Kingshouse we walked some way out on the old military road. Apart from a few wild campers scattered around by the hotel, we didn’t see a soul.
Jorgie splashed in and out of the burn having a lovely time while we were feeling chilly and grateful for our winter jumpers.
Called into hotel for a warming drink and watched a bride and groom having their photos taken outside. Luckily for everyone the sun started to come out.

The scenery in this part of Scotland is stunning but our favourite area is halfway down Glen Etive. I’ll tag the map option so anyone interested can see exactly where we are.
Taking it slowly we trundled down the narrow road. Expecting the normal high volume of traffic visiting the famous James Bond spot, we were surprised to find the route quiet.
By the time we found somewhere to park up off the road and not blocking a passing place, the sun was lighting up the Glen.

A great day topped off with a lovely meal at The Holly Tree
