Derelict pub
Today we walked over Marsden Moor from Marsden to Dobcross - crossing from Yorkshire to Lancashire. We stopped off on the way to take pictures of what is left of The Horse & Jockey pub, it went from being an up and running pub, to empty and derelict in a very short period of time. Note the roses on the butterfly wings white for Yorkshire and red for Lancashire. The Saddleworth villages were part of Yorkshire until the boundary changes in the 1970’s. As you can imagine being moved from Yorkshire to Lancashire was very contentious, some people who live there still say they’re from Yorkshire.
