Recyclng

Up until last week we had various receptacles for waste disposal and recyclin: a grey bin for normal stuff, a brown one for garden refuse, a green box for bottles and paper and plastic, and a brown box with a bright blue cover for cardboard. Then, last week, we were in receipt of two, what the council calls, food waste caddies, one for keeping indoors for all your food waste and a bigger one for putting out for weekly collection. This latter caddy holds 10 litres..how is it possible to have ten litres of waste food a week?
The council says this comes from overbuying and from food which is "out of date". May be time to think twice about the 3 for 2 and 'buy one,get one half price' offers so loved by our supermarkets. And to remember that "Best Before " doesn't mean that the food is unusable after that date.
Mind you Stirling Council does do well in the recycling game.....just not sure about how people will take to this aspect of recycling.
