Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

It’s a win?

Warm sunshine this morning tempted me out to begin cutting the hedge when JR had gone off for a double-gym session. But I very soon realised that the time has come for a MAN to do this. With my sore wrist, I find it too hard to hold the trimmers to do the sides, and I’m too wobbly up at the top of the ladder to do the top. Also, sweeping up, all that bending up and down got me a bit light headed. Pathetic, really. I had a look for some (human) hedge trimmers. But JR, when she came home insists on doing it for a bit longer.

Salwa and John popped in on their wee walk. Haven’t seen her for ages. When I told them where we were going on holiday, John enthused so much - he used to work there, and was a volunteer mountain rescuer. He suggested a few places to visit. Though I don’t think the weather will be quite as good as it has been.

Exhausted by my exertions, I retired to the sofa to watch football for the afternoon. Not that I’ve ever been keen on watching grown men who pull their socks up over their wee knees, falling over and pretending to be mortally hurt every five minutes - but there was no tennis on because of rain. Anyway, I dozed most of the time.

Our prospective sitter, Derek, sent a video of the collie he is looking after at the moment, they were at the beach, the collie on a very long lead. He’s going to be a super sitter!

Just watching the build up to the Big Match! I’d best wait for the outcome before I post this…

A 0-0 draw! We’ll take that as a win!
