History lesson with Roo!

Ok are you sitting comfortably then we will begin, once upon a time well actually the 12th century a church was built( Norman Times) in a small local hamlet.

The village today is not much bigger than a hamlet and the church is unique in the fact that it has a 2 part crypt, on my last visit I ventured down into the crypt, it's very dark and a little spooky.

Also the village has a beautiful house next to the church were Maud Watson lived as a girl, to those who don't know her, she was the first ever ladies singles champion of Wimbledon, she is now buried in the grave yard.

This broken column is in fact the tale of a tragic accident dating way back in time when a young saw mill worker was involved in a dreadful accident with a saw and was horrifically decapitated, why the column is broken I don't know.

But is amazing to find out local history.

Roo I think got confused and thinks Maud's buried here, he's always fancied being a ball boy!!!
