Ross-on-Wye

We had a quieter day compared to the excitement of yesterday.  This morning we walked into town and found a cafe in the centre with outside tables where we encamped with coffee and people watching.  It was market day and there were stalls inside and outside the old market hall including a plant stall where Ann bought some plants.  On the way home we stopped off at St Mary's Church, the main parish church of Ross dating from 1316.  John Kyrle, Man of Ross, is buried in the chancery.   

After lunch, and some tennis from Queen's, we went for a walk through St Mary's churchyard and onto the Prospect to admire the view.  As it was four'ish, afternoon coffee time back home, we decided to retire to the outside seating area of the Royal Hotel for.....coffee.

The picture is of the Market House built between 1650 and 1654.  The extras are of the Plague Cross in St Mary's churchyard (I've added a blow-up of the descriptive plaque) and the Almshouses on Church Street dating from 1575.
