Faskally and Fawns
Wow - what a day! We start with a walk to the Pitlochry dam and Loch Faskally, admiring the engineering, but awestruck by the still reflections in the loch; a surface of glass which all too soon distorts with ripples and, like a mirage, the reflections are gone - but not before we see a family of Mergansers gliding by, looking for all the world as if they’re floating through sky rather than water.
Then it’s on to Red Deer and our Highland Safari. We drive roughly along hill tracks, spying deer silhouetted on the hills, learning about foraging, watching skylarks and buzzards.
Finally we wander along a nature trail spotting another first - a Yellowhammer - and watching a tiny week-old fawn and hind together in the reeds.
It’s been close to impossible to choose today’s main blip, but in the end, cute wins, and it’s the fawn - the rest in extras.
