The Pursuit of Talent
Work was so insanely busy at one point today that it was almost funny.
Meeting followed meeting, emails racked up and calls came in two at a time. For the second day in a row a colleague was on the brink of tears and I listened, frustrated as she poured her heart out and knowing that I couldn’t do anything to assist.
The day went quickly though! The meetings went well, the calls were all sorted and the emails were all mainly positive, so balance restored?
Tipping the scales into the positive came in the form of this small, battered, yet loveable bear who has grown into a localised cult phenomenon. The latest President Teddy opus was created especially for the school’s talent contest and has been driven by a special request of Matty’s teacher to do something, so m’boy kindly stepped aside and let her fly solo on this project.
It was good fun again putting together a tight short under 2 mins, and I am particularly proud of a super slo-mo shot in which President Teddy soars through the air before colliding with and bouncing back from a wall mounted trampoline. It is vastly improved by Matty’s “woooooooaaaahhhhhhhhh” voiceover work.
I am also proud of her as she was nervous of uploading work that could potentially be seen by the whole school. She was starting to show a little reticence, but of her own volition she decided that she did want to proceed with it.
To paraphrase Training Day: “Steven Spielberg ain’t got nuthin’ on Matilda.”
