Today's the day .............................. to play football

I was at a meeting today in Coniston - a lovely little lakeland town nestling up in the fells close to Coniston Water. The hill up behind the houses is called Coniston Old Man and in the foreground is the local secondary - John Ruskin School.

When he was younger, son Rob who played football for a Kendal team used to come here for away matches against Coniston. I always used to think that it must rank pretty highly in the list of Football Pitches With Good Views (if there is such a list) because it is surrounded on all sides by mountains or lake.

They were playing football and hockey here today - but I expect they weren't looking at the view. If you live here, you probably just take it all for granted ...........
