Roadside signs

I walked up the main road today for a change. I thought I'd missed the ferry traffic but hadn't and I didn't enjoy the cars and huge trucks roaring by! It was good to get off the main road where these signs are and onto the road down Xwaaqw'um. 
Did a few things around the place then settled in to watch the Italy football game with G - and the power went off! I called to report the outage but there was no estimated time when it would be back on. We decided to go down for the mail then take a drive to see if we could discover the cause of the outage. Not too far down the road, a tree had come down over the wires, and hydro and a police car were on the scene. We drove through and turned around in a driveway to come home - and just then the road was closed! We parked along with several other cars and a neighbour came by, so we had a good chat with him. Then the word was that the road would be closed for at least an hour, so luckily we were able to turn around and went for a drive along a road we haven't explored for awhile. When we headed back home, the lineup of cars was further down the road, so we parked again and read the local paper that had come in the mail. Finally around 3 and a half hours after we'd left, we arrived back home. We don't know for sure what caused the tree to come down, but maybe the torrential rain we had late yesterday afternoon had something to do with it. An unexpected outing! G did see the highlights of the game and was happy that Italy won.
