Blowing In The Breeze
We took a trip round the East Neuk of Fife today.
We went via the Tay Bridge and on-route had a bit of fun with the sat-nav by putting in things like 'Dundee' ......... no trace. The V & A ..... no trace. HMS Discovery .... no trace. Discovery Point .... no trace. St. Andrews .... Hundreds of churches - no town. University of St Andrews .... no trace. Anstruther ..... it came up with the chip shop there!
When we got to St Andrews (it does exist) I found one of the main attractions (for me anyway) - the old ruins locked. There were signs saying that they had found unsafe headstones (each of which they had surrounded with barriers so you couldn't get near them). They also had the cheek to say 'No Drones'. I think they are really pushing their luck there. I wasn't the only one that found it a bit silly to lock the gates when they had already done their 'Elf & Safety' bit.
However, there were other places to visit .... Anstruther (twice .... we went back their for the fish & chips), Crail, St Monan's, Pittenweem (where we had an ice-cream and managed to speak to 'our' jeweller's wife for a few minutes (she has recovered for her cancer, he has recovered from a stroke - which we didn't know about but was busy doing an urgent skull implant so wasn't available to have a chat, but we have orders to phone and make arrangements to meet up), and Elie to name a few.
I have posted some pictures starting HERE which includes a place I haven't been to before .... The Lady's Tower built in the 1770's for Lady Anstruther to change in before and after swimming so that nobody could see her.
