The Ranch

Today I took the day off from work to visit Lisa's father at his ranch.

He has a gigantic property with a few lovely buildings in it. The ranch is completely self-sufficient in watersupply, electricity and vegetables. I liked the sign above the toilet saying: if it's yellow, let it mellow. if it's brown, then flush it down!

I had a wonderful walk through a part of their land and saw some wild kangaroos, wombat holes and a lot of animal droppings.. We walked to "the waterfall". But just like their dam, it was all dried up. Their ranch had survived the bush fires, but the draught was still a big problem.

Coming back I helped them out with watering the orange trees. Meanwhile having a look at the colourful parrots that flew around. (Impossible to capture on a photo, unfortunately)

Because the weather is so dry, there were no koalas around. So my blip is of the view from their balcony. This is the same view that they have from their bedroom. Because the ranch is on a hill, you can overview a very long way into the Australian countryside.

Later that evening we went to walk the cat in another part of their property. I got a chance to glance at a few more kangaroos there.
