Badger Defence

Just before 6 am yesterday, Basil wanted to go out. I opened the French windows and he scooted out, barking. Len got up to look. Just as well he did. Basil had cornered a badger by the fence, about the same size as him.

Len called Basil in and the badger pushed its way through the fence knocking out a slat in the panel.

When I got back late in the afternoon I discovered that Len had used the basal tray in Basil's cage to cover the hole, propped up, loosely, by various garden implements. As if that would keep a badger out - I don't think. On the other side of the fence, our neighbour Matt had discovered chunks of concrete moved out of the channel bordering the fence.

Today, I photographed the 'repair' but forgot to change the settings from yesterdays macro shot. I rather liked the shapes and shadows so converted to black and white. Hence today's photo. Extra shows what the 'protection' actually looks like. We're going to have to work on that.

In other news, the Bosch engineer came and fixed the dishwasher. Alleluia.

Yet again, I didn't go out for a walk. This is not good. My walking is going to get even worse. I really do need to try and go swimming.
