Comfrey - self-seeded in the garden, and, according to Monty Don, the leaves make great tomato plant feed. Will I have any tomato plants left to feed? Well, I’ve squirted them with soapy water so let’s hope that get rids of the Black Fly!

A glorious day, not a cloud in the blue sky, and 23 degrees, though the patio thermometer at one point said 29.5! The thermometer is in the shade but this corner of the garden obviously has its own microclimate. A day spent gardening and phoning round all the local vets trying to track down Six Dinner Sid’s owner. For the last two days he’s been upsetting Toff; he hasn’t budged from our garden right up to 9pm, desperate for attention and trying to get in the house. Am starting to worry about him. If he’s still hanging around tomorrow, I have a plan...
