Busy day at work, and very hot. We do have the choice of being indoors in an air-conditioned room, outside under a canopy, or outside on a field. But all have to be in the same place, there's no free flow between the spaces at present. Building work continues on site, but the children are no longer impressed by the sight of trucks and other working vehicles.
After I'd walked home, I made a cup of tea, then Steve and I sat down to watch the football. Scotland had already lost, while I was working. (Scotland has been here before, sadly).
Not long afterwards, our friends arrived. They've come to break their journey and stay a couple of nights with us, and they're our first visitors in almost a year. We had fritatta, cheeses, and berries for supper, then caught up on some of the news from the past year or so.
And then there was the gloomy news about the further easing of lockdown, which isn't going to happen for at least five weeks. It's the Delta variant, running out of control.
