Woodpecker

The highlight of my day today was seeing a woodpecker chick poking it's head out of a hole in a tree when I walked past this afternoon. It was calling and calling and calling. An adult bird eventually turned up, fed the chick and flew away (see extras). The feed happened so quickly I almost missed it! I've been hearing the chicks as I've walked past the tree for the last week or so, but this was the first time I'd seen one. I'm so pleased I saw it - they can't be far off fledging - and so pleased that I had my camera with me!
