Iris foetidissima
The Iris-like plant that appeared under the Cherry tree at the far end of our back garden earlier this year has suddenly produced a flower - showing it to be Stinking Gladwin (Iris foetidissima). No worries about the 'foetidissima' bit - I didn't crush any of the stems - but some fine berries to look forward to this autumn, all being well.
We think the plant must have been brought into our garden as a berry by one of the birds that visit our feeders regularly.
