Spoilt for choice

We have had a wonderful day visiting the villages that my husbands ancestors came from. We love a church and church yard ( not religious but you get a real sense of history from them) We are in the none tourist part of Devon, no tea rooms offering cream teas here! But oh my if you discount some very scary narrow roads it is absolutely stunning here. You get the feeling that time has stood still and as I sat in the church at Meshaw all I could hear was nature. The crows, chickens and birds, no man made sound at all. I could imagine his 2 time great grandmother standing at the church seeing and hearing exactly what I was. We then went onto a very small but beyond stunning village called West Worlington. The church gate was in the middle of two cottages (pictures as extra). The main picture is looking down the hill there. The church was 11th century and had a wooden tower ( can be seen above the cottage with gate) we ended the day by taking the dog to a forest which had the remains of a mediaeval motte and bailey Castle. Percy had a paddle in a stream and we came back to pack up and move on to our next cottage on the boarder of Cornwall.
