Breakfast Time
There are two babies in the cormorant nest that I’ve been keeping an eye on. I was lucky enough to be there during the feeding frenzy this morning. The parents have very expandable gular, or throat, pouches which hold food. The little ones stimulate the pouches to get the parents to regurgitate, and then thrust their hungry little heads straight into the parent’s mouths to get their treat. The babies can stay in the nest for as long as two months. Two months of having somebody's head thrust down your throat several times a day. At least both parents share feeding responsibility.
I opted to avoid the RedBall on its last day in town because it's going to be installed on a very popular beach and I have no wish to get stuck in traffic, even for an interesting shot.
