Photo Exhibition
Two events on the Prom/beach in quick succession this morning. First the local Surfers Against Sewage group organised a 'Paddle Out' to send a message to the G7 leaders about the plight of the oceans and the planet. A 'Paddle Out' is a spiritual thing in surfer culture, more usually associated with a memorial for a fellow surfer who has died, in which the group form a circle just offshore. After that it was straight to the opening of the Human Nature photo exhibition on the Prom. Part of the Edinburgh Science Festival, and something of a trailer for the main event which starts at the end of the month, the exhibition includes work by several photographers from around the world, including Edinburgh's Anna Deacon. This is one of Anna's pictures but unfortunately she wasn't able to make it today and this is Emily, who works for the Festival and curated the exhibition. The exhibition is up for a few weeks and well worth a look if you are on the Prom - close to the foot of John Street, opposite the community garden. I also took a few pictures of another of the photographers, Ed, who was up from South Wales for a photography job in Fife and had dropped by to see the exhibition.
