Portland Bonfire
Michael and I drove to Portland, a small town about 50kms west of Blackheath.
It used to be a cement town, but when the cement works closed in the nineties it pretty much died.
There have been many attempts to inject some life, and money into the town, and much is being done to foster the use of the main hall, a beautiful industrial cathedral, not unlike Carriageworks.
Today's event was well attended, a night market with a massive bonfire and fireworks display.
We didn't stay for the crackers, but the bonfire was indeed big and resulted in lots of silhouetted people.
Michael in extras.
