7th
Booking a round of golf after a lesson seemed like a genius idea, so Bunny, Chris and I duly headed out after Nick, my coach. had given me a 75 minute lesson. Chris was having a seriously bad day, but Bunny and I were on fire. We played a texas scramble, which means that we all tee off and then we choose which ball is in the best position before all taking our next shots from that position. I like it when I'm not playing that well as it takes some of the pressure off, and it's a bit more fun as it's a team game and you're taking on the course. Our challenge is always to beat the course (ie go round in par), but I don't know whether we've ever achieved this before. There's normally a couple of holes on a course that feel almost impossible to get round in the regulation number. We thought we would go round in 9 over par, and after two holes we were not surprised to be 2 holes down. Brilliance on the 9th and the 14th (with no contribution from me) saw us get back to level par. My star shone brightly on the par 5 17th hole with a massive drive, 5 iron and a sand wedge onto the green which left a six inch putt for a birdie. To our amazement, we managed to par the stroke index 1, 18th hole to finish one under par. This picture is of the 7th hole which has a 140 yard carry over a big pond. Stupid place to put a pond, if you ask me, but my ball landed at the back of the green :-) Happy days, but my word, I ache....
