Rejoicing Winter Blooms

We’ve had a full on day today and ticked lots of boxes. We said goodbye to Alison and I went to Chris’ to have my hair cut at 9.30am, dropping Alan off in town on the way.

When I got there it turned out that Chris wasn’t working this week, it was his birthday on Tuesday, and his mum Doreen was down for the week, so I felt very honoured to be having my hair done. He was on good form, and was very chilled seeing as he wasn’t expecting anyone else, so we had a good catch up, and then once my hair was done, I had a tour of the garden which they’re getting ready for their ‘Open Garden’ next month. I also met Hemingway, Chris and Tony’s adopted Basset Hound (see my extra).

I picked Alan up and then I headed to work to collect a shredder and a new mobile phone to take home, so it was nice to see everyone in person rather than remotely.

From there we went to Faye’s house to pick some art for our house. Faye is the person behind Brighton Skies, the photography group I’ve been a member of for so long, and she’s a multi award winning contemporary artist. I love her work, and she’s just in the process of preparing for the Artists Open House next week, so I messaged her to see if there was any chance we could call in and choose something as I’d prefer to see them than just buy online.

Faye was invited to have an exhibition at Glyndebourne earlier this year and did a series of paintings inspired by the Sussex Downs which you can read about here.. We were spoilt for choice but decided on this piece called ‘Rejoicing Winter Blooms’, which will add a nice splash of colour to our blue feature wall in the dining room. We’re contemplating getting a couple of others for the living room and will let her know what we decide. It was nice to get this photo of Faye with our print so this had to be my Blip.

We went to collect the boys from Charlottes and then had an appointment at the Vets for their health check and vaccines. I’ve always paid for the Pet Health Club which includes this, together with their 3 monthly tick and worm treatment, so it was good to get it done before we have to find a new vet.

We’re currently on our way home and have been through some horrendous traffic on the M25, with major delays, but we’re through it and have stopped at the services to get something to eat. Hopefully we’ll be home by 10pm!
