The accidental finding

'Have you brought any Quails' Eggs?"

"'Have you brought any Quails' Eggs?' asked the ninety-two-year-old lady as I entered her house, wearing a CoVid mask, sunglasses, print trousers, and accompanied by a red and white spotted Minnie Mouse suitcase (is this the brave new face of tourism? ).

I replied in the negative, as I'd been expecting to sell her some greetings cards, which were in the suitcase. She chose ten, and then ordered me to gain some weight before I saw her again. I told her I'd been ill, and promised to go and buy an ice cream straight away, to speed up the process.

Just then, another friend of hers arrived, so I left them before we could go off at any more tangents. Posted a parcel in the Co-op, where the PO is located, and discovered I'd narrowly missed the bus I wanted. I spotted this sculpture, made by Extinction Rebellion members, at a guess, outside the Stonehouse Health Centre, which I blipped last month. It is certainly an arresting piece of public art.

When I got back to Stroud, I had to lug the Minnie Mouse suitcase all the way home, because I didn't want to wait 35 minutes for another bus. The case handle is too short, because it's really meant for a child, so I felt twisted and bent, and repeatedly banged myself in the ankles with the case! As I neared the home strait, the zips burst open, and cards scattered out on to the road! Fortunately it was a quiet area, and all of my cards are cellophaned. I did feel a complete prat, though.

The suitcase, which came from a charity fair and was once destined for nursery, is going to a second hand shop tomorrow! (The zips still work, so I have no idea why it suddenly shed its load in the road. Possibly just to annoy me).

Another busy afternoon and evening at home was followed by a peaceful supper whilst watching a documentary about the bombing and rebuilding of Coventry Cathedral.
