We heard hobby hawks earlier on in the spring. They’ve nested nearby these last two years.

As I sat watching these clouds billowing up on a cooling north-easterly behind Falterona I thought I saw two hawks slip down on the air currents, occasionally darting and feinting, strong scimitar wings, one experienced and the other less so.

They only seem to start to call later in the summer and into autumn.

Unfortunately they escaped the camera but the clouds were pretty nonetheless.
