Was this a honey buzzard?

I heard the characteristic mewing of a high flying buzzards and realised it was approaching where I stood on the roadside.Looking up I saw a large bird's shadowy form through the thick top branches of the trees, as well as the call and sight of a few smaller birds fleeing. 

All went quiet for a few minutes, then with no further sound I saw a shadowy form again at the treetops and this bird appeared in a gap between the trees.

It doesn't have the normal feather patterns or colouring of a 'normal' buzzard, so I'm wondering whether it might have been a honey buzzard. Any expert advice is most welcome.
