Arduaine Gardens

A peaceful and relaxed day to finish our holiday. We wandered down to the shoreline this morning, and took a few photos, with Mr A making friends with one of the goats. Whereas he had delighted in scandalising the lambs at Treshnish by telling them their mothers were mutton, here he did manage to stop himself from muttering goat curry (see the extra on the link).

Mid-morning, P and H arrived, after an early morning trip to the Coop in Lochgilphead. We wandered around Arduanie Gardens, which are quite lovely, and then had a leisurely lunch in the bistro here. Mostly I had no clue what the different plants are in the Gardens, although I recognised plenty of rhododendrons. I’ve added something which I found quite interesting into the extras so that the more horticulturally literate amongst us can tell me.

Update: I found out via Facebook that it is a candelabra primula.

We did the square root of nothing in the afternoon. Basically, reading books and chilling out. It was as well we had nothing planned, as the weather closed in and it started raining. We’ve had a misty moody view of the sea from our room. We bought a couple of plants from the ones stocked by the hotel. I need to get those planted up tomorrow when we get back. And now we’re just back from dinner in the restaurant thinking about a reasonably early start in the morning.
