Bluebell Arboretum
I’ve found a new happy place.
I’d never heard of it. I found it leafing through the RHS handbook, so I explored this morning.
It is wonderful. Acres and acres of healthy, beautifully maintained trees, shrubs and all you can dream of.
It was peaceful. I just sat for a while, in different spots, and caught up with phone calls to family.
And then I continued to wander.
I met the owner who created this exquisite garden. He was just tending a rhododendron. He is so enthusiastic and knowledgeable. We talked about some very historic and special trees at Calke Abbey (a few miles away). He told me some wonderful stories of the gardeners In Local stately homes. He pointed out special plants.
I was there far longer than I had planned. It’s truly a very special place and there were hardly any other visitors.
It’s a treat not to be missed, but sshhhhh : keep it a secret.
