black truffle...dog

Back home to Perth traveling a different path through timber, wine, apple, cherry and truffle country.
Located near the town of Manjimup, inoculated hazelnut and oak trees have been for several seasons now, producing a fine crop of black (perigord) truffles and this tiny, area is now the second largest producer of truffles in the world after France.

A team of dogs seek the 'black diamonds' from the truffiere at Hazel Hill in early winter.
And this is one of the team, lazing around in the sun...what a job!
