Are You My Mother?

I was working away on the deck planting pots of herbs today when I glanced out over the back garden and there was one of our neighbourhood rabbits munching his or her way through the garden greenery. I often see a rabbit passing through, but today this one's arrival was fortuitous as I really needed a blip. I had taken at least 50 shots of said rabbit  - surely one of those would be usable -when I looked down from the deck and saw a tiny little one peering out from under some hostas below me...and I started shooting all over again!  A mother-baby blip would be so much better! The baby seemed very timid, hesitant to leave its place of safety; it sat watching the "mother" for quite some time before eventually venturing out, gradually making its way closer and closer to her. When the "mother" totally ignored it, the baby sadly retreated once again under some other hostas  (main blip) and continued to study her from there. The "mother" didn't even acknowledge the presence of the baby, just kept eating and ignoring,  then made her way up the path to the gate leading out of the garden, stopped, turned and took one last look back toward the baby ( see extra) but then hopped off to greener pastures..  And in that moment, my whole mother-baby scenario fell apart. That was either a cruel and mean mother or a total stranger...I prefer to think the latter...

So, here are two photos  - an adorable, curious, but timid baby rabbit and an anonymous unrelated adult rabbit innocently passing through my yard,
