Cockermouth castle

The Normans built the first castle in Cockermouth in 1134.

It lies by the confluence of the rivers Derwent and Cocker...just a few hundred yards from our cottage.

It is well worth googling to get the full history!

Much cooler today...but the threatened rain didn’t materialise.
