Arrived home to be greeted by paeonies in full bloom .... lovely!

Paeony ....
paeonies represent wealth and honour. They symbolise romance and love and are regarded as the omen of good fortune and happy marriage.
Paeonies can live to be 100 years and still produce flowers.
The paeony is named after Paeon, a student of Asclepius, the Greek god of medicine and healing. Asclepius became jealous of his pupil; Zeus saved Paeon from the wrath of Asclepius by turning him into the paeony.
The white paeony is one of the oldest remedies in traditional Chinese medicine.
The Chinese name for the paeony is sho yu and this means "most beautiful".
