On 13th June is the Swiss vote on two initiatives. The first one would lead to a total ban of synthetic pesticides, the second one to stricter regulations regarding drinking water (and therefore als impacting the use of pesticides). Living in a farmer region it's quite obvious what the majority of farmers are going to vote.   

Yesterday I had a talk with a fruit farmer about the initiatives. He is already reducing the use of pesticides to a minimum and in consequence "suffering"  that not all fruits look that perfect as in ads - what finally consumers prefer, if they have the choice. Even for him an acceptance of the initiatives would signify a drastic change, stopping some of today's production (mainly on the old, classic fruit trees).
