Limestone Pavement
Another really good walk through woodland at Gaits Barrow NNR. The clints and grykes of the limestone pavement are a fascinating reminder of my geography lessons many years ago. A number of people were looking out for ‘Dukes’. The Duke of Burgundy butterfly is a rarity but found in small numbers in this area. We did not see one but we did see a Pearl- Bordered Fritillary, also quite scarce nowadays. It’s been a very warm day again with a similar forecast for tomorrow.
