Great blue heron

Jill and I met our friends again for another walk. It was nice. We also brought Bruno and they brought their dog, Smokey. We think next time we might bring along Delilah as well.

Nick spotted this heron standing in the water. It prepared to fly, so I aimed my camera. I'm glad I brought my telephoto lens this time, though 200mm still doesn't quite have the reach I need. Eventually I'd like a 2x extender, but they apparently don't exist anymore. They're sold out, and I don't know if Canon makes them anymore because it is moving away from SLRs.
