Very protective parents

We had a lovely afternoon in the sunshine today watching the boats race on the marine lake. It was good to catch up with people I hadn't seen in over a year and there was a delicious outdoor afternoon tea. There was a pair of swans with their young and they were being very protective, hissing at anyone who went close to them - although why they chose to stay close to the edge of the lake where everyone had gathered I don't know! At one point unhappy that we were not moving away the male climbed out of the lake and we had a full display of flapping and hissing - rather spectacular and ...effective! We soon moved off.
