Bus route walks

Jumped on a No. 14 bus (after we'd walked for about 45 mins to get to a No. 14 bus stop) and went to it's terminus at Greendykes. WOW! Hasn't Greendykes changed a lot over the last few years? The last time Ann went to Greendykes was probably more than 25 years ago and it was a right old slummy horrible area. Now there's loads of new private housing which has popped up. It appears to have become a real 'des res' location. Though having said that; it's still stuck out in the middle of nowhere and non of the 'des res' houses have any amenities within easy walking distance.

Anyway, we got off the No. 14 bus at it's terminus (which we have to say was pretty much in the middle of a half built housing estate) and then we walked home. 4.86 miles if anyone is interested.

This is a photo of me walking across a bit of wasteland behind the Royal Infirmary at Little France. Ann was a bit scared because it was a huge area of wasteland and we were the only people on it and Ann was worried that someone would a) mug her. b) murder her, c) sexually assault her. The Greendykes area didn't have a good reputation 25 years ago but maybe things are different now.

…..............We walked fast?!!! …...........And joined the path from the Royal Infirmary up to Craigmillar Castle. And after walking through the grounds of Craigmillar Castle, we walked through Inch Park and then we walked through the Hermitage of Braid. …................And Ann didn't get mugged, murdered or sexually assaulted so all is good. Yay!

Oh and the weather was appalling when I set out on my walk at 8.45am. We could hardly see 2 paces in-front of us. By 11am the sun had come out and it's been beautiful all day. Don't you just love sunny days. Think this is the first evening that we haven't had to put the heating on since we came back from St Ives at the end of April.

I've had loads of 'off lead' run about time today so now I'm very tired but happy.
