‘The Forth Bridge in the Haar’

We went slightly west of Edinburgh for a walk this afternoon and along the shore of the Dalmeny Estate, thinking we might dodge the haar, the cold sea mist, sweeping in from the North Sea.

We were wrong, though as we left it has begun to clear and when we got back home, just a few miles away, there was bright sunshine!

This photo was taken from the South Queensferry side, from a point just east of the Forth Bridge. The island, Inchgarvie,  supports one of the Bridge’s cantilevers. It is now uninhabited, but was historically heavily fortified, and also housed a prison.
