White campion

A warm (20 degrees) and sunny day which, as is usual for us on a Saturday, started with a dog walk returning via the bakery and general store. We’d got up and out earlier than usual and so I managed to bake several cakes and get other jobs done before lunch.

This afternoon I spent a little time at the allotment watering plants including calendula, spinach, chard and tomatoes. I also planted out some French marigolds, courgettes, one (!) cucumber (so far) and cauliflowers.

I’ve never grown cauliflowers before but they are brassicas so have many pests! We use them a lot in our cooking so I’d thought it would be interesting to try to grow them but I suspect it won’t be successful enough to do so again.

In the field where we walk Merlin there are many wild flowers. I’ve not seen white campion growing there before, so I thought I’d capture it for the record, and because they remind me of childhood holidays.

Hoping your Saturday has been kind to you.
