Yarnstorming / Garnbombardierung

I like the term yarnstorming, though urban knitting and kniffiti also sound fun - and the German Garnbombardierung has a certain ring to it too!

Apparently it’s classed as a form of graffiti, even an art form in its own right. The idea is to reclaim and personalise sterile or cold public places. There’s also a view that it reframes the traditionally feminine art of knitting to partake in the often male-dominated graffiti scene.

This example caught me eye, transforming a usually unexceptional lamppost by Greifswald’s iconic St Nikolai cathedral.
